Zlatan Vehabović
Banja Luka, BiH, 31 March 1982
Zlatan Vehabović graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb in 2000. He continues his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he graduated in 2006 in painting in the class of prof. Zlatko Keser. For his graduation thesis, he received a commendation of excellence from the Council of the Academy of Fine Arts. In 2007, he enrolled in a postgraduate doctoral study in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and since 2016 he has been working at the same institution as an assistant professor in the Department of Painting. From 2006 to the present, he exhibited at about twenty solo exhibitions and participated in over sixty group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. Among his more important independent exhibitions, the Dark White Earth exhibition in the Art Pavilion in Zagreb in 2018 stands out.  He received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, and in 2016 he participated in the prestigious residency program The Arctic Circle. His works are in numerous Croatian and foreign private and public collections.
From the beginning, he did not see the expression through big themes such as criticizing social anomalies, but as transferring personal emotions to the canvas. Over time, he changes the concept, so his works become narrative - he likes to tell stories about events that arouse his curiosity. He devotes himself completely to painting, and draws inspiration from books, music, and popular culture. He is driven by the excitement of staging, the passion for creation. In his works, a specific and suggestive imaginary is presented, which "confronts exotic locations, emanates a feeling of natural and immeasurable vastness whose dimensions and forces are far superior to man and his constructions" (B. Franceschi).
