Domagoj Rogina
Varaždin, 1989
Domagoj Rogina was born in 1989 in Varaždin. He graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2017. So far, he has exhibited at a number of exhibitions. Since 2018, he has been working as a professor of art and technical culture at the Slava Raškaj Education Center in Zagreb. He is the winner of HDLU's award for the best young artist for 2022.
Domagoj Rogina belongs to the younger generation of Croatian painting focused on figuration. In the last few years, he has imposed himself on art critics and the public as one of the leading painters of the younger generation. His exceptional artistic expression is recognizable by expressive compositions, layered smears of paint, expressive handwriting, emphasized brush strokes. The artist focuses on the surface of the painting, on its tactile part, therefore the matter of color that embodies the scene is emphasized, an unavoidable part of his works, which often hide symbolism from everyday life. Through his pictures, he speaks and warns about the endangerment of nature and the bad attitude of man towards it. As the artist himself once said: "I like to paint freely, to explore, therefore I approach painting as discovery, reflection, play, in every new cycle I try to discover something new".
