Anita Kos
Zabok, 31 March 1994
Anita Kos graduated in 2019 from the study of Art Pedagogy at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, majoring in painting. She spent a year at the Academy of Fine Arts Jan Matejko in Krakow. She received the Academy Award for her success in graduate studies. She exhibited at solo and group exhibitions. In her creation, she balances between painting and illustration. She is a member of HDLU Zagreb and Varaždin.
With works created on the basis of diary entries in paintings and drawings, she depicts the world of sleep, laziness, comfort, the intimacy and warmth of the bed, tenderness, hope, longing, drawing the observer into an atmosphere that inevitably suggests deeper reflections, goals and the purpose of existence. By exhibiting her works, she actually exposes herself, confronts the feeling of being exposed in front of the viewers. Kos skilfully uses a palette of colors and attention to detail to express different emotions and moods, creating an atmosphere that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in her world of hopes and dreams. In addition to the presence of figuration, the emphasis is still on the feelings of melancholy and fantasy, and not on the ambiance itself, which is present only in hints. Through the research of hyperrealism and figuration of magical realism, the artist creates her own unique style that reflects her personal relationship to the world, using internal conflict as a driving force for further creation, while through the motif of dreams she finds space for regeneration and rest.
