swedish granite and wood
Hodošan, 25 August 1951
He graduated in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1975 in the class of prof. Valerio Michieli. He was an associate of the master workshop of prof. Ivan Sabolić, and studied in Italy, Sweden, Austria and Germany. He is an associate professor at the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and deals with restoration.
Initially, he created expressive figuration, but he is recognized as the author of abstract sculptures shaped in wood, bronze and granite, with symbolic content and strong expressiveness. He creates reductionist and expressive works of playful geometric structures of dynamic form and unusual relations of elements. He creates analytical and constructivist works in cycles, questioning and perfecting new forms and expressions. It forms clear constructive assemblies of open structures characterized by woodworking techniques and elements. Rusticity and carving replaced the smoothed and polished surfaces of the newer works molded in granite, and the sculptural handwriting was adapted to the characteristics of the material.
