Academic painter. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1962 in Frane Baća's class. She was an associate of Krsto Hegedušić's master workshop in 1962-1967. Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb since 1983. Adhered to figuration from the beginning, she has gone through several phases that share surrealism and phantasmagoricness, and are recognizable by their typical restless handwriting and poetics of human loneliness and anxiety. Her suggestive compositions, often with grotesque characters, are characterized by a delicate line and refined color. In recent years, it has tended towards a more closed and solid form. Nives Kavurić-Kurtović translates and expresses her emotional and psychological experiences in the language of lyrical surrealist painting materialized through the use of different materials, techniques, shapes and specific colors, written in the dynamic, restless handwriting of the artist's hand. By using heterogeneous media, expressive works of visual-tactile experience are created. Her phantasmagoric works require questioning, thinking and plunging into the borderland of rational and irrational where everything is possible, permissible and liberating. The author has so far held numerous exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and is the winner of numerous domestic and international awards.
